How to find a tennis partner (that actually shows up)
The hardest part of tennis usually isn't your forehand, it's finding someone to hit with who matches your level and actually turns up. Here's how to solve that, and how Doyouplay makes it easier.

Why it's hard to find a partner
Most people try the same handful of things: a note on the court bulletin board, a local Facebook group, asking around at the club. Each reaches only a few people, the skill levels are a gamble, and too often the person never turns up. So you end up playing less than you'd like, with the same two or three faces, or not at all.
How Doyouplay helps
Doyouplay turns "I hope someone's free" into "here are players near me looking to hit right now." It comes down to three steps:
- 1
Set up your profile
Add your level, the times you usually play, and what you're after: a casual hit, competitive matches, or someone to drill with. The more specific you are, the better your matches.
- 2
Browse and message players near you
Filter by skill level and availability, see who's actively looking for a game, and message them right in the app. No bulletin board, no waiting to be noticed.
- 3
Pick a court and play
Agree on a time and a court, play, and turn the people you click with into regular partners.
Tips that actually work
- Be honest about your level. Describe your game accurately, or use your NTRP rating if you have one. Better to undersell than oversell; an even match is more fun for both of you.
- Keep the first hit short. An hour on a neutral court takes the pressure off and makes it easy to book a rematch if it clicks.
- Confirm the day before. A quick message the night before is the single best way to make sure someone actually shows up.
- Build a core, not a crowd. Three or four reliable partners you rotate through beats a long list of one-time hits.
