About the centre
At 8 Stadium Boulevard, the ActiveSG Kallang Tennis Centre is Singapore's largest public tennis hub, with 14 courts opened in March 1978. The National Stadium and Singapore Indoor Stadium sit alongside it. Players range from national team squads running drills to casual rallies in the equatorial sun.
Courts and facilities
Kallang sits a short drive from Singapore's downtown skyline, rebuilt around the 35-hectare Singapore Sports Hub. The centre has 14 outdoor hard courts, two practice walls, and a centre court that once seated 1,219 for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. Office workers arrive by MRT from the CBD, families come on weekends, and juniors chase national youth team spots. Play covers everything from inter-school championships to STA Open qualifiers. The centre also hosts Singapore Tennis Association programs, with pros training alongside everyday players.
Getting there
Kallang MRT station is a few minutes' walk from the courts. Bike-share lanes connect to Bugis, and public buses run along Stadium Boulevard to the gates. Drivers will find 19 car spots and seven motorcycle bays on-site.
Off-peak weekday courts cost $3.50 per hour. Peak hours run 6pm to 10pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and public holidays. ActiveSG cardholders book through the app or website and get priority access at the lower rate; non-members can register on the spot. Walk-ons can play when courts free up. Floodlights run until the 10pm close, making after-work sessions practical. Courts are open-air with little shade, so bring sunscreen, water, and balls. Courtside fountains are sparse and no balls are provided.
Visitor essentials
McDonald's and KFC sit across the road; Kallang Leisure Park and the Sports Hub mall add more food options. Decathlon, opposite the centre, sells rackets and grips and is open until midnight on weekends. Parking fills during events, so arrive early. Washrooms are just outside the courts. The outdoor courts close for storms with little warning, so check the NEA nowcast before heading out. Evenings are cooler than midday, but water is essential year-round.
Finding a hitting partner
Courts fill quickly, which makes finding a partner harder for newcomers. Doyouplay lets you browse players in Kallang by skill level, schedule, or style, from 3.5 baseliners to casual weekend players. Message someone and set up a game in minutes. Profiles cover the range from national team hopefuls to expats.
Book and play
The adjacent Kallang Tennis Hub hosts WTA 250 events. The courts at 8 Stadium Boulevard handle everyday public play. Book a slot through ActiveSG and head out.
