Bonnersfield Lane courts
Harrow Baptist Tennis Club sits between numbers 44 and 46 on Bonnersfield Lane in Harrow, Greater London, behind Gold's Gym. Players rally on four outdoor hard courts, all-weather surfaces that hold up to the area's drizzle. The club has no floodlights and no indoor courts. It is a private members' club where locals of all ages play and talk between points.
Getting there
Harrow town center is a short walk away, with high street shops and residential streets between the courts and the station. Harrow-on-the-Hill and Northwick Park Underground stations are both 10 to 15 minutes on foot; Kenton British Rail is also nearby. The club draws after-work players and weekend families from across the area. About 65 adults and 25 juniors hold membership. The courts sit on church grounds, and many regulars have ties to the local Baptist church, whose minister serves as club president.
Membership and play
The club is members-only, with courts reserved for members. Come on a Saturday afternoon for a free first visit: from 3 p.m. in summer (April to October) or 11 a.m. in winter (November to March). Coaches run junior and adult programs year-round, and teams play Middlesex LTA leagues alongside social events. Membership covers coaching, leagues, and casual hits, but non-members cannot book courts. Play runs in daylight only, with no lights. The hard courts handle light rain, though heavy rain ends play.
Beginners are welcome. The club is small, so coaches adapt sessions to new players. Annual fees scale to adults or juniors, with coaching as an add-on, but exact figures vary by season, so call ahead or visit to confirm. Winter brings shorter days, though the all-weather surfaces stay playable through the colder months.
Parking, food, and weather
Car parking is available on site. Food options are within a five-minute walk on the high street, including cafes and takeaways. The church grounds have open space for a post-match break. Play ends at dusk, as there are no floodlights.
London weather calls for some prep: layers for Harrow's damp winds, grippy shoes for slick hard courts, and a radar app for sudden showers. In January, mornings give the best light. Summer extends play under longer days.
