Deer Wood Tennis Courts
The Deer Wood Tennis Courts, also known as Deer Run Tennis Club, sit in Mississauga's Deer Wood Park at 1075 Rathburn Road West. Two outdoor hard courts back onto a stretch of trees, a short drive west of downtown Toronto.
Neighborhood and surroundings
The Rathburn Road corridor passes soccer fields and is edged by a ravine, with highway 403 nearby. Players come from neighborhoods like Erin Mills and Meadowvale, parking in the adjacent lot or locking up at the park's bike stands. The site draws beginners who use the practice wall and intermediates playing in nearby ladders like the MTL-Meadowvale Tennis League.
Both courts face northeast, catching morning light and casting longer shadows by late afternoon. Windscreens reduce gusts off the open fields. On summer evenings, the site draws families for casual play. Deer Wood is one of Mississauga's 26 public tennis venues.
Stepping onto the Court: Free Play, Seasonal Realities
Deer Wood is free, public, and requires no reservation. The City of Mississauga runs it with no court fees or memberships. Both hard courts operate on a first-come basis; yield to any match already in progress. The courts have no lights, so play ends at dusk.
The courts are seasonal, open from spring through fall and closed over the Ontario winter. The hard surface is grippy and gives a true bounce. On-site amenities include benches, a chalet, spectator seats, public restrooms, a drinking fountain, equipment rentals, and a practice wall.
Visitor Essentials: Fuel Up, Park Smart, Play Safe
Park in the lot at 1075 Rathburn Road West, with spaces near the soccer fields. The park has lit pathways, sits within view of the road, and is patrolled as part of Mississauga's recreation network. Families picnic nearby. Layer for Ontario weather: July heat calls for water breaks, and September cold calls for gloves on the grip. Check the forecast, since rain slicks the hard courts fast.
After a match, a Tim Hortons and a Starbucks are a five-minute drive east on Rathburn, with pho spots in nearby plazas. Those who bike in can stop at a Meadowvale market stand.
